Born at Strathfield (NSW) in December 1927, Mick Houston was an ‘Original’ Handler who joined the RAN in the final year of WW2.  He served in HMAS Bataan, his first tour of duty being part of the Occupation Forces of Japan under the command of General McArthur.

In March 1948 he responded to a call for volunteers to join the Fleet Air Arm, which was being formed for the first time, and so he transferred from the Seaman’s Branch before passage to the UK.

He departed this life in July 2014 aged 87 and will be remembered by many of his mates and mourned by his wife Nancy and his family.
