McKenzie, Captain Ronald RAN (Retired)

14 May 1934 – 25 March 2023

LEUT McKenzie was a graduate of Number 32 Pilots Course in late 1957.  He went on to fly Gannets, and later completed the Flying Instructors course at East Sale. He was then posted to RAAF Base Point Cook as Senior Naval Officer instructing on Winjeels, after which he returned to Nowra, where he was a Gannet OFS instructor on 724 Squadron.
Ron was instrumental in the introduction of the S2E Tracker, from initial training in Canada, acceptance into the RAN, and as an instructor on the very first Tracker OFS at Nowra. As a Commanding Officer, he was instrumental in the aircraft’s record of outstanding service in the RAN.

He was the loving husband of Margaret (dec). Loving father and father-in-law of Michael & Denise, Peter & Vicki and John & Bronwyn, and a cherished grandfather and great grandfather.

The funeral service for Ronald will be held at St John the Baptist’s Anglican Church 45 Constitution Avenue, Reid on Friday 21 April 2023 commencing at 10:30am.
