The Federal Council of the FAAAA is the premier governing body of the Association. It comprises delegates from the National Executive and every Division, and meets once per year to discuss and guide the governance of the organisation.
The composition, conduct and powers of the Federal Council can be found at Clauses 14 & 15 of our Constitution. Key factors are:
- The Federal Council will include the National Executive and not more than 3 delegates nominated by each Division.
- The Council must convene Annual General Meetings in every calendar year within four (4) months after the end ofthe Association’s financial year.
- Only the President, or another member of the National Executive nominated by the President, is empowered to vote on behalf of the National Executive when the Federal Council is in session. This person shall have one vote only.
- The Council shall have the power to appoint committees as required. At least 1 member of every committee must be a member of the National Executive.
- The Council shall elect the National Executive for a 3-year term.
- The Council shall have the powers to direct the policy of The Association on all matters affecting the interests of The Association and its Members.
