Ron ‘swallowed his anchor’ on or about 07 September 2007.  His funeral and internment was held on Wednesday 11th September at Castlebrook cemetery, situated between Parramatta and Windsor on the outskirts of Sydney. ‘Blue’ was a member of the Windsor RSL Branch, whose President conducted a graveside poppy service. Blue’s coffin was adorned with a brass fireman’s helmet to mark that he had served seven years in the fire brigade, and of course a sailor’s cap.   He was interred to the sound of Rod Stewart’s “I Am Sailing”. 

Blue was a member of handlers class 53, 16 May 1955.
